Getting Started
  1. 1) Compile a list of words.

Every search starts from a word list — create one here (or import a file) before you build or run anything.

Every search starts from a word list — a simple set of words you'll combine or transform later. Create a new one from scratch, or import a CSV/text file if you already have candidates lined up elsewhere.

You can also browse and reuse any of your existing lists, or the global lists everyone shares, from the Word Lists page. A list you build once can be reused across as many searches or tools as you like — create one to get started.

  2. 2) Decide: Builder or Tools?

Builder crosses two word lists together (every left word + every right word). Tools takes one word (or list) and transforms it 11 different ways (typos, leetspeak swaps, synonyms, etc.). Two lists to combine → Builder. One word to riff on → Tools.

Builder takes a left list and a right list and crosses every word from one with every word from the other — cloud + host → cloudhost, across every TLD you pick. Tools is 11 separate generators that each transform ONE word (or list) a different way: Mangle swaps in leetspeak-style substitutions, Typos mimics real fat-finger mistakes, Thesaurus swaps in synonyms, and so on.

Rule of thumb: two lists to cross → Builder. One word to riff on → Tools.

  3. 3) Click Builder, Tools, or start a New Search.

Builder · Tools. Not sure which one has what you need? Each Tools card describes itself in a line, or see the Help page's quick summary of all of them.

Builder · Tools. Not sure which one has what you need? Every card on the Tools page describes itself in a line, and the Help page's Tools section is a faster skim if you already know roughly what you're after.

Prefer to measure one idea before generating a whole batch? Score a Word checks a single root against your top-weighted TLDs and shows the full scoring breakdown.

  4. 4) AI-assisted name suggestions Coming soon

The idea: suggest new name ideas automatically from a short description of what you're building — no API key, nothing to configure. Still just an idea at this stage; nothing here yet.

  5. 5) Monitor your searches.

Every search you run shows live progress on the Searches page.

Every search you run shows live progress on the Searches page — including Auto Mode (checks pending domains automatically in the background) and Recheck All (re-verifies a search's existing results later, since availability changes over time).

Star anything promising into Favorites so it's easy to find again, and browse every domain you've ever confirmed available from My Domains.

Out of ideas? Roll a random pair of keyword lists →

Combine keyword lists, pick extensions, and we check thousands of names at once.

    How it works
Built for founders, side projects and brand names. Pick your keyword lists (or roll a random pair above), choose extensions, and press Generate. Every combination is checked against DNS and the registry, and you get a list showing which names are still available to register. Click any section's header (the arrow) to open or fold it: filters, search name and checking options start folded.
Set up your search, then create a free account to run it. Your choices are kept when you sign up.

Browse all 2,605 public keyword lists — try your state's name, a big city, or an industry term. The per-state place-name lists are a good starting point for a local brand.

    Explore a keyword list

Pick any list to see a few of its words. No account needed — this is just a preview of what the Builder would draw from.

Running a search takes a snapshot of the selected word lists right now. Words you add to a list later won't appear in this search — run a new search to include them. Need help? See the FAQ.
Search Mode Optional filters available on every mode
Switching modes doesn't lose anything. Each mode has its own word-list pickers, and whatever you already chose stays chosen in the mode you chose it in — but a selection doesn't move between modes on its own. Where the mode you switch to has an empty picker, your saved list is carried over so you don't have to find it twice.
To reuse a list with different ad-hoc words, switch to List + Runtime Words — your saved list comes with you and you just type the new words.

Coming soon: a three-list mode with per-position prefix & suffix options. Roadmap.

The left list becomes the start of each name.
The right list becomes the end of each name.
    Filters
Optional — comma or space separated terms. Require keeps only that side's words containing ALL of its terms; Exclude then removes words containing ANY of its terms — e.g. Require app + Exclude le keeps appl but not apple. Wildcards: * or % for any number of characters, ? for any one character — e.g. app* matches words starting with "app", *ing matches words ending in "ing".
    Estimated combinations: —
Saved as a reusable "Runtime" list on your account, then combined with the list above. It stays available afterwards under Runtime at the bottom of every list picker here — pick it in Single List Check to search just those words on their own.
Just checking a one-off batch? Bulk Domain Check takes pasted words or full domains with no word list at all.
    Filters
Optional — comma or space separated terms, applied to the word list only (your runtime words are used as typed). Require keeps only words containing ALL of its terms; Exclude then removes words containing ANY of its terms — e.g. Require app + Exclude le keeps appl but not apple. Wildcards: * or % for any number of characters, ? for any one character — e.g. app* matches words starting with "app", *ing matches words ending in "ing".

    Availability Checking
Off by default, answers already found for a name are reused — fast, and why a search can finish in seconds. Tick this to look every name up again with the provider chosen above. Much slower, and some extensions always use DNS regardless (their registries rate-limit or do not answer RDAP).
Server-side starts checking right away and keeps going even if you close this tab. Client-side generates your list but waits — you'll click "Check All via DNS" on the results page to start it, and it only progresses while that tab is open. Uses your account's DNS resolver — currently Machine / System default, same as server-side, so client-side won't behave any differently yet. Pick a resolver in Settings to get the point of running it client-side.

    How it works

    1. Left list provides the prefix: cloud, fast, smart
    2. Right list provides the suffix: host, sync, base
    3. The engine builds every combination: cloudhost, cloudsync, cloudbase, fasthost…
    4. Each combo is checked for availability across your selected TLDs.
    1. Pick one saved list — it provides one side of every combination.
    2. Paste in words right here for this search only — they're saved as a temporary list, not added to your word lists.
    3. The engine builds every combination of the saved list against your pasted words.
    4. Each combo is checked for availability across your selected TLDs.
    1. Pick one word list — no second list, no combining.
    2. Each word in it is checked as its own domain name: cloud becomes cloud.com, not a prefix or suffix.
    3. Turn on "require this filter" to only check words containing a substring you pick — handy for narrowing one big list to a theme.
    4. Every word (or every matching word) is checked for availability across your selected TLDs.
    1. Choose My Unique Words (only your own lists), All Unique Words (everyone's lists, the default) or By Topic (one topic, e.g. Animal).
    2. The engine takes every word from those lists, each word once however many lists it is in — no combining, no picking a list yourself.
    3. Each unique word is checked as its own domain name across your selected TLDs.

    Provider comparison

    Provider Speed Accuracy
DNS Check Fast (~50ms) Good (~95%)
    RDAP Slower (~300ms) Excellent (official)

Tip: use DNS first to rule out obviously-taken domains, then verify your shortlist with RDAP.
